Kerala backwaters are a string of brackish lagoons which are fed by a total of 38 rivers and embrace five huge lakes connected by canals. Located parallel to the Arabian Sea coast, they virtually extend up to half the length of the state. Day: 01 Arrival in Cochin

On arrival at airport, you will be greeted by eLand Holidays representative who will transfer you to your pre booked hotel. Previously known as Kochi, the city of many parts Cochin is located on the south-west coast of the Indian Mainland. Its outstanding harbor and excellent bay was quite famous among the sailors and the traders who made recurrent halts to hoard up on spices, coffee and wood, while travelling to the affluent marketplaces of West Asia and Europe. Architecture is a blend of the Portuguese, Dutch and British style of designing buildings. Check in at the hotel. Rest of the day will be at leisure. Overnight will be at the hotel.

Day: 02 Sightseeing in Cochin

After an early morning breakfast, get set for an exciting sightseeing tour of the city. First of all you will visit - Mattancherry Palace. This palace was built by the Portuguese in 1557 and over the years has become an important tourist spot. Willingdon Island, This is a manmade island and it is one of the modern ports that serve Kerala. It is made up of the materials that were dredged when the Cochin port was being deepened. Chinese Fishing Nets, These are the fixed installations that hold the nets horizontally across the water. Each of these is about 10 meters in height and each is handled by a team consisting of six fishermen. This unique method is a must see when you visit Cochin. Located two kilometers from the Fort Cochin, Church of Saint Francis is dedicated to Saint Antonio and is one of the main living historical monuments. Come back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day: 03 From Cochin to Munnar

After early morning breakfast, you will be driven from Cochin to the famous hill station Munnar. On arrival, check-in at your pre booked hotel. Munnar is quite popular as a hill resort town among tourist. Its proximity to the highest peak in the Western Ghats - Anaimudi Peak makes it a spice in the dish. The fourth day will be full of leisure as you get to wander on the streets complimented by the green tea plantations. About 15 km from Munnar, you will reach Eravikulam National Park that houses the Nilgiri Tahr – an endangered species. The most special moment is when the flowers of Neelakurinji cover the hill slopes with a blue carpet. Evening will be at leisure.
Come back to the hotel for overnight.

Day: 04 Munnar – Thekkady

Morning breakfast will be followed by a 110 km drive to Thekkady, also known as Periyar. On arrival, check in at your pre booked hotel.
Those who have special interest in the wildlife should come to Thekkady which is by far the best place in Kerala to watch the wildlife. The variety of animals that one could spot here are lion tailed Macaques, Boars, Deers, and Elephants. Some lucky ones may get a chance to see tigers and leopards roaming in the dense forest. Here, you have the option to explore the forest sitting atop the elephants in the great Indian Maharaja style. Periyar National Park, Murikkady, Chellar Kovil and Mangala Devi Temple are the popular highlights in the region.
Overnight will be at the hotel.

Day: 05 Thekkady – Kumarakom

Early in the morning, you will be driven to Kumarakom (135 km - 04 hr), a cluster of tiny islands, on the exquisite Vembanad Lake in Kerala. The land of lakes, canals & paddy fields, Kumarakom transports you to sheer ecstasy. Visit the charming Kumarakoram Bird Sanctuary. There are cormorants, teals, & other ducks between October & February while from February to July there are darters (snake birds), night herons, egrets, & Siberian storks. It also has golden backed woodpecker, crow pheasant, white-breasted water hen, tree pie etc. Later board the houseboat, traditional Kettuvallam that offers an out-of-this-world experience. Overnight will be spent at the houseboat.

Day: 06 Kumarakom to Alleppey

On the morning of the sixth day, you will travel to utopian world of Alleppey after passing through many canals and waterways on a boat ride. The best way to explore the exquisite villages and the rustic life of the region is a backwater cruise on a country boat. Described as ‘Venice of the East’, Alleppey is a mosaic of scenic canals, beaches, backwaters and lagoons. Later you will board your Kerala houseboat, where you will spend rest of your day. Choose to surf on the calm backwaters or just relax sipping fresh coconut water. Listen to chirping of the birds wandering in the surrounding flora. Nowhere else in the world you will find such harmonious place! Spend your overnight in the houseboat.

Day: 07 From Alleppey to Cochin for Onward Destination

After a fresh breakfast, you will be driven to Cochin. On arrival, our representative will transfer you to the international airport to catch flight for your onward destination.
