Prime Historical Attractions in Jaipur
Amber Fort
Popularly known as the Amer Fort, it is located on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway that’s approximately 11 km from Jaipur. Construction of Amer Fort started during the reign of Raja Man Singh I in 1592. However it was fully developed in the dominance of Jai Singh I, though the improvements were added for the successive 150 years. Interior of this fort is designed in a way that it gives a soothing and warm atmosphere. Amalgamation of the Hindu and Mughal artistic design can be observed in the breathtaking carvings and minute mirror work.

 

It  is further divided into four subparts: Kali Temple (Shiela Devi Temple), Diwan-e-Aam (the public hall), Ganesh Pol and Jai Mandir (hall of victory) besides several other halls and pavilions. One can take local buses and taxis to reach Amber Fort. The palace is open all days, except on Holi, from half past nine in the morning till half past four in the evening.

 

Hawa MahalHawa Mahal Jaipur
Offers beautiful sight to take a look at. Designed in the form of a crown, it is also known as the Palace of Winds or Palace of Breeze due to its amazing air circulation. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, this 50 feet high magnificent monument depicts the prosperous heritage of India.
It is a pyramid shaped facade with 5 floors having 953 small jharokhas (windows) with minute trellis work. Designed with an endeavor to serve women of the Royal families under strict purdah (cover), this palace stands strong representing the glory of great Mughal emperors.

Local buses, taxis and buses can be taken to reach City Palace. Duration of October to February is preferred for a visit. Timings are 9.30 in the morning to 4.30 in the evening except on public holidays.

 

Jantar Mantar in  Jaipur
Also known as Yantra Mantra, it is one of the largest Astronomical Observatory. Built in the reign of Maharaja Jai Singh II during 1727-1733, Jantar Mantar is constructed with five different facilities. This observatory incorporates 14 chief astronomical devices that are used to determine time.

 

Sundial (Samrat Yantra) attracts vacationers from all corners of the globe. This giant sundial standing 27 meters tall is the largest in the world.

 

Rickshaws, taxis and buses are available from city to Jantar Mantar. October to February is considered the most beneficial time to visit Jantar Mantar. It is open for all from 9 am till 4.30 pm.

 

Jaigarh Fort
Located on Cheel Ka Teela (Hill of the Eagles), 400ft above Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort is approximately 15 km from Jaipur. Popularly known as Victory Fort, it was builtJaigarh Fort in Jaipur with an endeavor to provide additional security to Amber and Jaipur. It was constructed in the dominance of Jai Singh in 1726.

 

Jaivana which is world’s largest wheeled cannon is the highlight of Jaigarh Fort. It also holds three enormous subversive water tanks which can store about 60, 00,000 gallons of water.  Sections under water tank are supposed to serve Raja, Maharajas of Amber and Jaipur as a store to keep the royal wealth in the previous times.

 

Vijay Garh, Diya Burj, Museums, Lakshmi Vilas Palace and Armory are other attractions of Jaigarh Fort.  

 

Local buses and taxis are available to Jaigarh Fort from the city.  Anytime from October to February is favorable for a visit.

 

Nahargarh FortJaipur Nahargarh Fort
6 km from Northern Jaipur lies the Nahargarh Fort. Located on border of the Aravalli Hills, scenic value from peak is awe-inspiring. It is believed to be named after Prince Nahar. Legend related to this fort is that the spirit of prince haunted this place and hindered its construction. He agreed to leave on one condition – if fort was named after him.Mansagar Lake, Nahargarh Biological Park and unexplained tales of Nahargarh are some highlights.

 

One can reach Nahargarh Fort by taking local Buses or by hiring local Taxis from the city. October to February is considered as the best time to visit Nahargarh any day between 10.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m.
