Amber Fort, Jaipur
Amber fort is a beautiful fort built out of white marble and red sandstone. Located on Delhi-Jaipur highway (approx 11 km from Jaipur), Amber fort is popularly known as Amer fort. Although its construction was started by Raja Man Singh in the year 1592, it was completed during supremacy of his descendant Raja Jai Singh.
Divided into four main parts - Kali Temple, Diwan-e-Aam (the public hall), Ganesh Pol and Jai Mandir (hall of victory) - this fort houses several other attractive halls and pavilions. Except on Holi, Amber fort is open all days with preferred
timings of 9:30 in the morning till 4:30 in evening.
Chittorgarh Fort, Chittorgarh
Chittorgarh Fort - the largest fort in India is renowned as the water fort. This grandest fort in the state of Rajasthan was the erstwhile capital of Mewar. The fort located at a hill top elevated to a height of 180 m (590.6 ft) and encompasses an area of 280 ha (691.9 acres). This fort has seen many brave hearts proving their metal in the battlefield and has inscribed itself in the list of the most battle scarred forts in India.
The shape of the fort more or less resembles a fish. The fort has seven gates which have been built as huge stone structures with fortifications for military defense. The whole of the fort has been divided into six main parts: Vijay Stambha (Victory Tower). Kirti Stambha (Fame Tower), Rana Kumbha palace, Fateh Prakash palace, Gaumukh reservoir and Padmini’s palace. Meera temple, Kalika Mata Temple and Tulja Bhavani temple are the other attractions of the Chittorgarh fort, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur
Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan is located on a hilltop named Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) 400ft above Amber Fort. It was built by Sawai Jai Singh in year 1726. This fort was constructed to secure Jaipur and Amber from enemies. Highlight of this fort is its massive cannon – Jaivana which is world’s largest wheeled cannon. It also houses three huge underground water tanks largest of which can store up to 60,00,000 gallons of water. Other attractions of this fort are - Vijay Garh, Diya Burj, Museums, Lakshmi Vilas Palace and Armory.

City Palace, Jaipur
Expanded over one seventh of the town, City palace is a famous landmark in the pink city Jaipur. It was built during reigns of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. Interesting fact about this fort is its plan which is the exact replica of map of pink city. A part of palace is still home to the erstwhile royal families while rest of it has been converted into museum. Other attractions of this palace are: Chandra Mahal, Maharani's Palace, Mukut Mahal, Mubarak Mahal and Shri Govind Dev Temple. Exquisite architecture of this place is complimented by elegant paintings, mirror embellishment on walls and floral ornamentation. Textile and Costume Museum, Attraction of Silver Urns, Diwan-e-Aam-- Hall of Public Audience and Peacock Gate deserve special mention.

Hawa Mahal, Jaipur
Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built the beautiful Hawa Mahal in year 1799 next to the city palace. Its unusual and majestic structure reminds one of miraculous structures of Arabian nights. It is a series of sandstone windows that appears like a giant honeycomb. Palace is given the name Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) due to excellent air circulation through its 953 small screens.
Best time to visit Hawa Mahal is from October to March. Palace opens for visitors at 10 in the morning and is accessible till 4:30 in the evening.
Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur
Umaid Bhawan Palace is made out of a special type of sandstone that has resistance towards getting worn out. Built in 20th century, it is a significant part of Jaisalmer tourism. With parts of the Umaid palace been converted into a hotel and a museum, it serves as a heritage property now.
