Day: 01 Arrival Cochin

Your classic tour begins the instant you land at the Cochin airport where you will be warmly welcomed by eLand Holidays representative and escorted to your pre booked hotel room. With history lurking in every corner, Cochin never fails to entertain, enrich and fascinate. Roots of its culture are so steeped that you may get entangled in the web of its hosts of colonization. Unpack and settle down quickly. Go on a sunset cruise along the Cochin backwaters. Views from the illuminated Marine Drive always come packed with hordes of locals relaxing by the bridge.

Day: 02 Sightseeing in Cochin

Some of the enthralling attractions of Cochin include the Spice Market, the Jewish Synagogue. The Dutch Palace, the Santa Cruz Basilica, the St Francis Church and the Chinese fishing nets installed around the backwater shores, all remarkably old. A Kathakali performance, which is an ancient dance drama art of Kerala, will entertain you in the evening.

Day: 03 Cochin – Allepey Houseboat

Drive to Alleppey at a distance of over 60 km, which is a more soulful sister of the chic Cochin. Step inside your private houseboat and chug along the pristine backwaters, crisscrossed with canals, coves and streams. Houseboat or Kettuvallom is a delightful experience complete with a lovely bedroom, attached bath, dining hall, lounge and a deck to sun-bask, all tastefully furnished. The exotic landscapes of rolling paddy fields around and the floating markets in canoes and catamarans all add an ethnic touch to the cruise. Overnight on board.

Day: 04 Allepey – Kumarakom

Get down from houseboat at Kumarakom, a charming town hugging the crisscrossed water bodies and check into the hotel room reserved for you. With sweeping views of greenery, it is like relaxing right in the lap of nature. Some of the resorts offer traditional Ayurvedic treatments of massage and spa.

Day: 05 Kumarakom – Periyar (Distance-111kms/3.5hrs(approx)

After a delicious breakfast,we will drive towards our next destination,that is PERIYAR. Periyar is an area of dense woods, serene lakes, craggy hills and spice gardens not to mention the rich wildlife of exotic species. It is one of the prime tiger reserves in India and also a favourite spot to catch a glimpse of elephants. Unpack at your pre booked hotel. Have a stroll around the spice plantations and breathe in the freshly scented breeze mixed with aromas of cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg wafting towards you. See how they are processed to the forms as you see in markets. If time allows, get going on an elephant ride as well.

Day: 06 Periyar

Get set for a three hour jungle trek accompanied by a local guide. Unwind in the forestry beauty and spend the night at the hotel.

Day: 07 Periyar – Munnar (Distance-88kms/2.5 hrs(approx)

After a delicious breakfast,we will drive towards our next destination,that is MUNNAR. Munnar is considered an ideal summer sojourn in Kerala today just as it was during the British Raj. The well-cared tea plantations dotted with architectural gems made by the colonialists, it is a sight of joyous beauty. Though most of the estates are privately owned, tourists are free to enjoy a stroll amidst the lush greenery. While waterfalls trickle down the hills, numerous streams gurgle along making you feel that you never want to go back from here. Check into the hotel room reserved for you and just enjoy the stillness.

Day: 08 Munnar - Guruvayoor – Athirapally

It takes nearly four hours to reach Athirapally. Make a stop at Guruvayoor, the hallowed town close to Thrissur that is known for the fabled Sree Krishna Temple. The only hitch is that non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple premises, but even exploring the narrow lanes with blooming trees on sides that lead to the temple is a huge treat. Athirapally is positioned at the opening point of the Sholayar forest range; its unparallel beauty defies words. And its mighty waterfalls of over 80 ft that cascade down the rocks with a deafening roar as it sprays you, is a sight to behold. Check into your pre booked resort with gorgeous views of the waterfalls.

Day: 09 Athirapally – Wayanad (Distance-260kms/5hrs(approx)

They say that if Kerala is God’s own country, Wayanad is its Eden. Set in the idyllic backdrop of mighty but romantic Western Ghats, Wayanad is all tropical rainforests, aromatic spice gardens, grassy meadows, expansive tea estates and as the name suggests, lots of paddy fields set at a high altitude. With views ever virgin, some of the highlights are the imperious Edakkal caves and the Jain shrines.

Day: 10 Wildlife Adventure at Wayanad

The Wayand Wildlife Sanctuary is open to visitors and is home to a variety of indigenous animals and birds. In afternoon, drive to Kuruva Island, a lonely group of islets specked in middle of the River Kabani. Come back to the hotel for overnight.

Day: 11 Wayanad – Tellicherry (Distance-100kms/2hrs(approx)

Move to Tellicherry (also known as Thalassery) with its 3 C’s (Cakes, Circus and Cricket), a boisterous fishing town cuddled in the northern edge of Calicut. As the first British settlement in Kerala, it is irresistible to history buffs. Check into your pre booked hotel where an evening performance of the traditional dance, Theyyam will be arranged for you.

Day: 12 Tellicherry

Stop over at the vibrant fish markets of Tellicherry while returning from a colonial fortress erected by the British. A short drive away is the picturesque Muzhipillangad Beach which is the only drive –in beach in Kerala. Whiz along while feeding soft white sands to winds as you take in the matchless beauty around.

Day: 13 Tellicherry – Calicut (Distance-70kms/1.5 hrs(approx)

Kozhikode (Calicut) is a historical coastal town that was once the seat of power of the legendary Zamorins and is also home to the supreme cotton, Calico. Synonymous with trade and honesty, this is the best place to relax with an Ayurveda massage at a resort. In the evening, pay a visit to the Hindustan Kalari Sangam, which is renowned for giving world class training in ‘Kalaripayattu’ the Kerala martial arts, one of the oldest in the world.

Day: 14 Calicut – Departure

It is good bye day. Our representative will transfer you to the Calicut airport to catch the return flight for onward destination.
