Enroute visit Dambulla Cave temples, also known as the Golden Cave Temple, these Buddhist rock cut temples dates back to first century BC and are famous for the beautiful Buddha sculptures believed to be added in 12th century and naturally painted ceilings. After breakfast, visit the ancient Rock fortress on Sigiriya, an architectural marvel, the fortress was constructed around 05th century over the top of a 200 feet high rock. On the top, there was a massive lion carved out of the rock as a gateway, this probably gave the name “Sigiriya’ to the surrounding area. Half way up the rocks, there are few caves believed to be Buddhist Viahara’s with amazing collection of frescoe paintings mostly of lady figurines.
Later drive to Trincomalee, the most important port of eastern Sri Lanka, is also the Center of Tamil Culture of Sri Lanka. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Later explore Trincomalee, visit include the Koneswaram temple compound, its Bhadrakali temple on Konesar Road, and the Salli Muthumariamman Kovil of Uppuveli beach in the Trincomalee suburb of Sambalativu. After breakfast, check out and leave for the beautiful hill station of Kandy. , a UNESCO world heritage site, was the last of capital of Ancient Sri Lankan Capital and one of the most sacred places for Buddhist followers of Lanka. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Later enjoy half day city tour of Kandy including a visit to a Gem Lapidary, Arts & Crafts Center and the Temple of Tooth Relic. Stay overnight at the hotel in Kandy.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Colombo. Enroute visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden, spread over 147 acres, it is famous for its collection of Orchids. Apart from it, it has more than 4000 species of plants including spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Continue your drive to Colombo, stopping once more at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – a heaven for young orphaned elephants, you have a chance to feed the elephants also witness them bathing in the nearby river. Arrive Colombo late in the afternoon and check in at the hotel. Later proceed for quick tour of Colombo and last minute shopping, including the visit to Pettah Bazaar for street shopping and Odels – the largest and most famous of Sri Lanka’s Mall.
